As part of our new Advanced Critical Care pathway we are running for the first time, we have created this podcast hosted by our very own and trusted Sarah Jones (Lead for Clinical Pharmacy Advanced Practice) that brings together Nic Corkhill - Consultant credentialed pharmacist and Pharmacist Team Lead Perioperative & Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Services at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - and Amy Wieckowski - Lead for Critical Care and Theatres at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital.
The podcast is unapologetically longer than the others we've published so far as there is so much great content and, for the often grey areas of critical care practice, it is probably helpful to dive into the detail of all things intensive...
So, if you are a pharmacist or other healthcare professional practicing in the field of critical care, or you want to refresh or dip your toe into a the soapy suds of critical care, then this is the podcast for you. Such a pleasure to hear this discussion by masters of their art.

Prof Tina Brock is the Director of the Collaborative Practice Centre Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, and a mentor of many. Tina talks candidly about her role in global health spanning all 6 WHO regions with particular reference to strengthening health systems and human resources as a key component of that. Tina explains her role at the Collaborative Practice Centre in reducing silo’s in healthcare education and practice (take note of the silo-based pun which I was particularly impressed with!). We also venture into the importance of planetary health, and the use of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) as a mechanism of ensuring global harmonisation of global health practice in pharmacy (David Steeb’s reference below). Finally, a special mention and personal acknowledgement of the podcast art by the philanthropic Ollie Brock…. We cover a lot – come and listen!
This episode is part of the Global Health in Pharmacy short course if you want to learn more.
